Some couples meet through mutual friends, while others find each other through a swipe and a little bit of luck. For Liz and Daniel, it all started on Hinge. Although they met online, they later realized they were connected through several mutual friends. What began as a dating app match quickly grew into something much more meaningful.
Daniel’s proposal was every bit as thoughtful as their relationship. During a fall hike through Cuyahoga Valley National Park with their dog, Liz had no idea what was about to happen. Daniel casually asked if their dog had recently gotten a new tag on her collar. Curious, Liz bent down to take a closer look and discovered a tag she had never seen before. Engraved on it was a simple question: “Will you marry my dad?” When Liz looked up, Daniel was already down on one knee. Looking back, she credits Daniel’s ability to keep the secret for making the moment even more special.
As they began planning their May 2, 2026 wedding in Wheeling, West Virginia, Liz embraced every stage of the process. From gathering inspiration to celebrating milestones with family and friends, she found joy in the countless moments that make an engagement season so memorable. Surrounded by loved ones who had recently planned weddings of their own, she was able to draw inspiration from their experiences while creating a celebration that felt uniquely theirs.
When it came time to find her wedding dress, La Jeune Mariee had always been at the top of her list. While living in Grandview, Liz frequently passed the boutique and admired the beautiful gowns displayed inside. After becoming engaged, she knew she wanted a bridal shopping experience that felt intentional, elegant, and stress-free. Encouraged by glowing recommendations from friends, she booked her appointment and quickly discovered she wouldn’t need to shop anywhere else.
Working with stylist Madison, Liz found her dream gown: Amali by Watters. Before shopping, she had envisioned herself in a classic ball gown, but she hoped to find something that would elevate the traditional silhouette. The intricate corset detailing on Amali provided exactly what she was looking for, blending timeless bridal style with distinctive design elements that made the gown feel uniquely her own.
One piece of advice she feels strongly about sharing with future brides: hire the wedding planner.
Liz credits her planner, Ashley of Plans for Perfection, with helping bring every detail together and ensuring the day unfolded seamlessly. From vendor recommendations to behind-the-scenes coordination, Ashley played an invaluable role throughout the planning process and wedding day itself.
The couple’s celebration came with one unexpected surprise: the weather. While spring weddings often bring mild temperatures, their wedding weekend delivered record-breaking cold, setting a new thirty-year low temperature record for the date. In the days leading up to the wedding, there was understandable concern about keeping guests comfortable. Thankfully, with plenty of preparation, including heaters, blankets, and warm air circulating through the tent, everything came together beautifully.
Looking back, one of Liz’s favorite memories from the day was seeing every detail she had spent nearly eighteen months planning finally come to life. Watching her vision transform into reality and experiencing each moment alongside Daniel, family, and friends made the day feel even more meaningful than she had imagined. When asked about her favorite detail, Liz found it difficult to choose just one. More than any specific décor element or design choice, she loved the feeling of the day itself. The joy, excitement, and love that surrounded every moment created an atmosphere she wishes she could bottle up and keep forever.
