Beginning the search for your dream wedding dress is such a special time! We’re sharing a few tips on what to avoid while wedding dress shopping to make sure your experience is the best of the best.

1 // MAKING TOO MANY APPOINTMENTS

We know shopping for your dream gown is such an exciting process, but it can easily become overwhelming! Brides often find their dress during their first appointment, so overbooking yourself can cause extra stress & make it more difficult to choose your gown! Take it one appointment at a time & you’re sure to fall in love.

2 // BRINGING A LARGE GROUP OF PEOPLE

We get it, you want the most important people with you when you’re making this big decision! However, having too many opinions isn’t always a good thing; it can lead you further away from what you actually want. Ultimately, your opinion is the most important one! We recommend bringing 2-3 people with you for the best experience when you’re wedding dress shopping. Or, if you want to completely surprise everyone with your wedding dress, it’s not uncommon to come alone to your appointment. In fact, those are often our favorite ones!

3 // FIXATING ON SIZING

Bridal sizing can be a bit tricky. It tends to run small & most brides size up by one to two sizes. Don’t let that number affect your experience or how much you love a dress! What is most important is that you feel comfortable & order the size that best aligns with your measurements.

4 // NOT TRYING MULTIPLE STYLES

It’s great when brides come to an appointment having some knowledge of their style & what they’re looking for. However, it’s so important to be open to trying on different styles – maybe you thought you only wanted a fit and flare, but then fall head over heels for a ball gown! Being open is key to trying on wedding dresses; what you fall in love with may surprise you!

5 // NOT BUDGETING FOR ALTERATIONS

Every dress needs alterations! When you find your dream gown, you order the size that is closest to your measurements – it will never be a perfect fit without alterations. When budgeting your wedding costs, we recommend keeping your gown budget separate from your alterations. That way, your stylist can pull gowns that fall into your dress price point.
