For Roslyn [Roz] and Sam Crisp, a love of exploring the world together became the inspiration for a wedding as adventurous and meaningful as their relationship.
Roz and Sam’s friendship started at Ohio State University, where they were both studying physical therapy. Although they became close throughout school, their relationship didn’t turn romantic until after graduation. From there, they took a leap together, beginning their life as travel physical therapists and exploring new places along the way. Building a relationship while discovering the world together became a meaningful part of their story, making it only fitting that their wedding would reflect the adventurous life they’ve created.
On May 20, 2025, Sam planned a proposal that brought together two of their favorite things: travel and the great outdoors. The couple was exploring all five of Utah’s national parks with close friends and their children when Sam surprised Roz beneath Delicate Arch at Arches National Park. Although Roz knew an engagement was possible during the trip, she didn’t expect it to happen right then. With national parks holding such a special place in their relationship, the setting couldn’t have been more personal.

For their August 20, 2026 wedding at Mount Rainier National Park in Washington, Roz and Sam envisioned something that felt like a natural extension of their life together. They called it “Camp Crisp,” an intimate micro-wedding attended by their immediate families and two close friends. Rather than limiting the celebration to a single day, they rented a spacious log cabin just outside the park and spent the entire week together. It gave everyone time to slow down, reconnect, and create memories beyond the ceremony itself. Inspired by intimate destination weddings and the beauty of the Pacific Northwest, the couple wanted the surrounding landscape to take center stage.
When it came time to find her wedding dress, Roz was already familiar with La Jeune Mariee. While living in Grandview, she and Sam drove past the boutique regularly, and she often admired the beautiful gowns in the windows. Columbus was also a convenient meeting point for both families to join her appointment. Having known Luxe Brands Marketing Manager Alexa since undergrad, Roz already felt a connection to the boutique and trusted that she would be welcomed by a team just as kind and thoughtful.
With stylist Brynn, Roz found Nailah by Calla Blanche, a gown that captured everything she had imagined. She knew she wanted a fitted silhouette, an open back, and intricate lace details, with a look that felt both romantic and timeless. She also hoped to incorporate green into her bridal style, a meaningful nod to the emeralds featured in the couple’s wedding rings and the earthy tones woven throughout their color palette. Nailah was the very first gown she tried on. Brynn understood her vision from the start, bringing her ideas to life in a way that felt even better than she had pictured.
The final piece came when Brynn introduced the Toni Federici Morning Glory veil. Paired with Nailah, it felt as though the two had been designed for one another. Seeing the complete look brought the entire appointment together, and Roz’s entire group was in tears. Her LJM experience didn’t end there, either. For a larger celebration with extended family and friends a month after the wedding, Roz chose Etienne by By Watters for an event at a local brewery and restaurant in her hometown. From her intimate ceremony in Washington to her hometown celebration, La Jeune Mariee became part of both milestones.

One of Roz’s favorite parts of planning was the opportunity to be intentional about every detail. With a smaller guest list, she and Sam could make even the smallest elements feel personal and connected to their story. She loved the creative process so much that she has even considered exploring wedding planning as a future career!
Roz incorporated something old, something new, something borrowed, and something blue to honor different family members. She also had her mother’s wedding dress transformed into a getting-ready robe, allowing her to carry a piece of her parents’ wedding day into her own. And in a playful tribute to where they both call home, Roz and Sam brought a taste of Ohio to Washington with Skyline Chili and Graeter’s ice cream. These details made their celebration feel rooted in family and the life they had built, even while exchanging vows thousands of miles from home.
The couple’s vendor team played an important role in bringing their vision to life. Megan Montalvo of Between the Pine, their photographer, became a trusted friend throughout the planning process. Her team’s elopement and micro-wedding guide served as a roadmap for finding the rest of the vendors, from accommodations and catering to hair and makeup.
Roz gives a special shout-out to their friends Brooke, who officiated the ceremony, and Nathan, who provided acoustic guitar music. She also praises hair and makeup artist Anne Timss, who came highly recommended by Between the Pine. With no opportunity for a trial run, Roz placed a great deal of trust in her destination wedding team. Anne and two other artists arrived at the couple’s Airbnb before sunrise, creating a beautiful getting-ready experience for Roz and her bridesmaids.

When asked about her favorite wedding day memory, Roz shared that she and Sam independently ended their vows with the same exchange: “After all this time?” “Always.” Neither had planned it or discussed it beforehand, making the shared words feel like the couple couldn’t have scripted it more perfectly.

Another favorite memory took place during a sunset hike and photoshoot through the mountains. Dressed in their wedding attire and hiking boots, Roz and Sam explored the scenery together. The experience was adventurous, a little unconventional, and entirely personal. And the scenery delivered. In Washington, locals often celebrate when “the mountain is out,” since Mount Rainier can disappear behind the clouds for hours at a time. On Roz and Sam’s wedding day, the weather was spectacular, and the mountain remained visible throughout the celebration. Having such a clear, breathtaking view of Mount Rainier captured in their photographs felt like a gift, giving their wedding the extraordinary natural backdrop they had hoped for.

Looking back, Roz has thoughtful advice for other #ljmrealbrides: write your vows early and make a day of it. She and Sam planned an unplugged getaway specifically to spend time writing their vows. After completing marriage counseling in preparation for their wedding, they had already spent meaningful time discussing their values, their relationship, and the future they wanted to build together. Putting their phones away and stepping outside their normal routines gave them the space to reflect and find the right words. It also meant they could revisit and refine their vows without the pressure of writing something deeply personal at the last minute.

We’re so honored that Roz chose La Jeune Mariee for both of her bridal looks and trusted Brynn to help bring her vision to life. Being part of such a personal journey is something we’re grateful for.
